Principles of corporate social responsibility
It is the policy of Polaris Private Equity to contribute to the communities in which we work and live by promoting a sustainable and profitable growth in our companies. The following principles are applicable for Polaris Private Equity as well as its portfolio companies.
Investment Decisions
When reviewing and deciding on prospective investments, as well as developing current businesses, Polaris Private Equity will
- consider the societal and ethical consequences of its investment activities;
- require that portfolio companies comply with the laws and regulations laid down by the authorities in the markets in which such companies operate;
- ensure that portfolio companies comply with human rights and labour conventions, adopted by United Nations and other relevant international organisations as ratified by Denmark and Sweden;
- not invest in companies that are domiciled in countries subject to trade embargoes imposed by the United Nations or the European Union and implemented by Denmark and Sweden;
- not invest in companies producing firearms, ammunitions and explosives;
- will ensure that portfolio companies apply similar principles to significant sub-suppliers.
Employees
Polaris Private Equity will in its activities and in its portfolio companies
- not tolerate any form of discrimination – or ridicule – pertaining to race, colour, gender, sexual orientation, age, disability, language, religion, political or other opinion, cultural background, ethnicity or other distinguishing characteristics;
- respect the right of employees to associate freely, join labour unions and/or take seats in the Boards of portfolio companies and to bargain collectively in accordance with local laws and regulations. Polaris also recognises the right of employees to refrain from collective representation.
Environment
Complying with environmental legislation is fundamental. In addition, important features in the environmental mindset of Polaris Private Equity are
- to consider the environmental impact and risks before an investment decision;
- to minimise the environmental impact of our businesses through careful use of resources, optimisation of operations, recycling and handling of waste;
Codes of conduct
As a member of the European Venture Capital Association, EVCA, and the Danish Venture Capital Association, DVCA, Polaris Private Equity will as a minimum comply with the codes of conduct and disclosure guidelines of these organisations.
