Skamol materials in Ladle Furnaces
and Steel Ladles
| |
Steel ladles can be lined by C-bonded MgO-blocks backed up by refractory high silica or high alumina bricks.

Benefits by implementing SKAMOL VIP-12 HS boards in ladle linings
By replacing e.g. 45-55 mm of the high silica, fireclay or high alumina bricks by a thinner layer of min. 12.7 mm SKAMOL VIP-900 or SKAMOL VIP-12 HS boards the following benefits are obtained:
- Slimmer and safer lining
- Improved conservation of energy in the steel batch
- Lower surface temperature of the shell
- Decrease consumption of wear lining due to better isotherms
- More steel per charge
Due to a higher steel temperature throughout one batch, the casting time per ladle can be reduced.
Example of 50 t steel ladle lined by SKAMOL VIP-12 HS
SKAMOL VIP-12 HS boards are glued together and to the steel casing by SKAMOL FL-06 mortar.
