September 5th 2013, the district heating association at the Danish Island of Fur, Fur Kraftvarmeværk APS, has agreed to purchase their energy from Skamol A/S' factory in Branden. Skamol will supply district heating from at least 5800 MWh and up to 7500 MWh, which covers the energy consumption for the 200 households at the Island of Fur.
The total project will include installations at the Skamol factory in Branden and a drilled pipeline going underneath Fur Sund, where they will be connected to the district heating.
The project only awaits the final approval from the Danish authorities in order to proceed.
Skamol is proud to be able to contribute to another green solution where our ressources are utilized in the best possible way and in close cooperation with the community and this is not the only activity Skamol has accomplished to reduce CO2. During 2013, Skamol has worked systematically towards a substantial reduction in energy consumption and CO2 reductions. This has been done partly with the project with Fur Kraftvarmeværk APS, but also at the factory in Branden, where the energy consumption has been reduced with app. 10%.
It is Skamol's ambition as a company to continuously contribute to energy savings - internally and at our customers!
